Gray County seeks community input to develop technology plan for better broadband access

Gray County, Texas (January 27, 2022) – The Gray County Broadband Committee, comprised of local stakeholders spanning business, education, government, and healthcare, just launched efforts to develop a county-specific Technology Action Plan. The Committee, in partnership with Connected Nation Texas (CN Texas), is asking every resident, business, community organization, rancher, and public official to share their input through a brief survey. The information will provide valuable data on broadband usage in the county and aid in the development of a Technology Action Plan that will provide both immediate and long-term solutions for improving internet access.

The Gray County Broadband Committee is asking residents and organizations to take 10 minutes and fill out this important survey. Simply choose the survey category or categories that represent you or your organization. Surveys can be found here:

The goal of the survey is to identify unique challenges and opportunities for expanding high-speed internet in Gray County so that every family, business, and community organization can access the critical resources needed to be connected. Thanks to funding from the Texas Rural Funders, Gray County will partner with CN Texas on local efforts to close the Digital Divide within the community.

“We are excited to be working with Gray County on this important engagement and look forward to bringing meaningful solutions to the Texas Panhandle,” said Sierra Sees, Broadband Solutions Manager at Connected Nation Texas.

A Technology Action Plan will be developed for the county by leveraging Connected Nation’s Connected Community Engagement Program and will be shaped by the information provided by local stakeholders. For that reason, it’s important to include as much information as possible so that no area is left out of this plan.

The Connected Program has been used in more than 650 communities across the country to develop county or regional Technology Action Plans that have both short term and long-term broadband solutions.
