Make sure your area is part of the plan. Fill out the broadband survey being used to develop internet plans for the entire county
Tuscola County, Michigan (March 17, 2021) – The Tuscola County Economic Development Corporation is urging county residents, businesses, and other organizations to participate in an important survey intended to help expand and improve high-speed internet access across the county.
“The Tuscola County EDC is constantly working on ways to improve communities and business climate in the county,” said Steve Erickson, Executive Director of the Tuscola County Economic Development Corporation. “Especially during this past year of great challenges, we have seen many areas that need improved broadband internet in the county. Everyone is impacted by this, which affects education, agriculture, small businesses, and so many other aspects of our lives.”
The Tuscola County EDC is working in partnership with Connected Nation Michigan (CN Michigan), the statewide program of the national nonprofit Connected Nation (CN). The nonprofit has a mission to improve lives by identifying innovative solutions for expanding access, adoption, and use of broadband and its related technologies to all people. The Tuscola County EDC and Broadband Committee are leveraging CN’s Connected Community Engagement Program to develop a Technology Action Plan.
As part of this effort, and to ensure a plan that accurately reflects the need across the area, the committee is asking every individual, business, and community organization in the county to take 10 minutes and fill out this short survey about their broadband connectivity and needs: https://myconnectedcommunity.org/tuscola-county/
While many have already taken this survey since first announced on February 3, more are needed to ensure a good representation of the issues and needs from across the county.
“Getting a large number of surveys returned by businesses and from homes is crucial for the EDC to improve our strategy for faster broadband in Tuscola County and the Thumb Area,” said Erickson. “Over the past year in dealing with COVID, it is now even more important to provide much needed broadband service to all segments of the economy–small business, education, our homes, agriculture, medical services and for local units of government.”
