Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program  is a new long-term, $14 billion program created by Congress. It  replaces the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.

The eligibility requirements and benefits for the program are listed below. You can also find the two-step process for applying by scrolling down or heading to GetInternet.gov.

This Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program provides a discount on monthly broadband (high-speed internet) bills for qualifying low-income households. The nation’s 20 leading service providers have also joined in to make discounts on high-speed, high-quality internet plans available, impacting more than 80% of the country’s population. The benefits of this program include:

  • Up to $30 a month discount on internet service;
  • Up to $75 a month discount for households on Tribal lands;
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer if a participating provider contributes more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.
  • NOTE: Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household

For the 48 million Americans who qualify for the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)—and the $30/month benefit it provides—will be able to subscribe to broadband services for free.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

  • Those who already meet the requirements of an internet service provider’s existing low-income program;
  • Those who qualify for Lifeline benefits through participation in SNAP and other government assistance programs;
  • Participants of Tribal assistance programs;
  • Those who received a Pell Grant;
  • Those who received benefits under free and reduced school lunch program;
  • Households with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.

        TWO STEPS TO ENROLL

        1. Go to ACPBenefit.org to submit an application or print a mail-in application OR apply at GetInternet.gov 

        2. Contact your preferred participating provider to select a plan and have the discount applied to your bill.
          Note: Some providers may have an alternative application that they will ask you to complete

        Eligible households must both apply for the program and contact a participating provider to select a service plan.
